What is ATA?

ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter)

It is a device (a box) that is connected to the computer network with an Ethernet LAN cable and to a traditional analog phone line with a telephone cable. The ATA acts as a gateway between an analog and a VoIP telephone network. It converts the traditional analog phone service to a VoIP phone service.
