Other PBX vs. Ozeki Phone System

So you have realised that your home or your business needs a PBX (Public Branch eXchange, which forwards the calls to the desired extension), but can you decide which one is the best? Do you know what a PBX can provide you? Let us help you make your decision. Read this page and watch our video, and then you will see it better.

The PBX is able to switch phone systems. It means that it serves as a connection within the network of your business, and between the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network, or the old type of telecommunication) and your network. I do not wish to list here what each PBX can do, one by one, as there are so many that it would be impossible to show them all here. Instead, I will tell you what most PBX's can do (Figure 1).

Call Answering Features

You may wonder what features can it mean, but a call can be answered in various ways.

  • Most of the PBX's can hold the incoming calls in a queue, define some extensions, provide Auto Attendant with Interactive Voice Response.
  • The Ozeki Phone System can also hold your calls while any message or music can be heard, and if nobody answers, voicemail or another extension is automatically connected.
  • Extensions are not only defined by an Ozeki Phone System in an unlimited number, but they can also be ordered into groups based on any functionality you wish (and one extension can belong to several groups).
  • A call can also be transferred to all the extensions of a group, where anybody can answer it.

Call Management Features

While in mid-call, a PBX also has various ways your call can be handled.

  • Having answered a call, every PBX basically lets you hold a call or transfer it.
  • The Ozeki Phone System gives you a lot more opportunities. Attended Transfer and Blind transfer are both available, which means you can transfer the call with or without a confirmation from the third party.
  • Three-way conferencing is also a great opportunity in this group, provided by the Ozeki Phone System, which lets you talk with two people (so there are one plus two participants) at the same time.
  • As for call hold, while most PBX's only let you hold your call if there are only two participants, the Ozeki Phone System even lets you hold it when you are in the middle of a conference call.

Call Screening Features

These features basically mean the features regarding the identity of the caller and the availability of the callee.

  • These functionalities generally include hiding or showing Caller ID, and Call blocking.
  • With Ozeki Phone System you can decide to hide your ID when you call certain people and hide it at other times and vice versa.
  • You can also vary call blocking with Ozeki Phone System: you can direct everybody to voicemail at times, or somebody never to call you, or somebody right to the voicemail.

Away from the Phone

When you are not available, that is, you cannot pick up your phone for some reason, some options are offered to you by most PBX's.

  • Your calls can be forwarded to your voicemail, and if you get a text message you will get it as soon as you are available again.
  • The Ozeki Phone System lets you forward your call to any previously appointed phone number, including your voicemail.
  • You can get text messages such as e-mail, fax, SMS and voice mail to the same box, which you can check from any device with Internet connection.
  • You can also set event notification to be sent to you in a text message.

Bandwidth Saving Features

These features give you information to help you not to waste your bandwidth and monitor your employees' work.

  • Generally, a PBX records some call statistics per extension and gives you the quickest route to the destined extension.
  • The Ozeki Phone System records the callee if inbound, and caller if outbound besides the length of the call and on-hold time.
  • The quickest route option can be appointed to only certain parts of the day if you wish, once you have started using The Ozeki Phone System. These call routes can not only lead to one extension but also to a group of extensions.

Administrative Functionalities

These featuers free you up from the administrative burdens.

  • Most of the time it means automatic Daylight Savings Time Adjustment, easy voice mail setup and IP Phone support.
  • The Ozeki Phone System gives you slightly more of these functionalities: you do not have to configure new ports, the Ozeki Phone System detects them and you will find them in the Graphical User Interface.
  • Your voice mail can easily be setup from any phone connected to Ozeki Phone System XE with the help of Interactive Voice Response.
  • The necessary updates will be performed automatically by the Ozeki Phone System.
  • IP phones (they convert voice into IP packets and back) are not only supported, but they can get extensions without any other intervention than plugging it in.

Conveniences

These are the features that has been set up for your comfort.

  • A general PBX provides corporate directory with all the names and extensions within the company, it gives you the opportunity to talk to anybody in the company for free and the feature to redial busy callers automatically until they are free.
  • Besides these, the Ozeki Phone System lets you have a list of frequently called numbers which you can call with a shortcut.

  • And finally, the Ozeki Phone System not only supports IP phones, but it also gives them distinctive ringing, corporate directory can be uploaded to the suitable devices.
