ISDN NT1 vs. ISDN NT

In this page you can read about an important requirement of the Internet connections, the ISDN and about an element that build up the ISDN network: the ISDN NT. If you are one who is interested in high technology Internet communication, this page will inform you about why these terms are necessary to know and how can you make a good use of building up such a system. To find the answers, please keep on reading.

ISDN is a set of standards: all the Internet connections must fulfill the requirements of these standards in order to be used in high-technology communication systems.

ISDN, NT, NT1 and NT2

An ISDN network is built up from several elements: among these elements, there are the so-called standard devices. These standard devices are not some phyiscal devices but units where the proper physical devices can be put to serve the given needs of the network.

The ISDN NT is one of these standard devices. The ISDN NT is the boundary between the Internet Telephony Service Provider's network and the customer's network: it connects the two and converts the data to the proper format.

NT stands for Network Termination: this term concludes the terms for NT1 and NT2. NT1 is for the physical connection, NT2 is for the logical connection (Figure 1).

NT1 + NT2 = NT

Devices like PBXs (Private Branch Echanges) and digital multiplexers can be used as both the physical and logical device. In this case both requirements can be fulfilled in the same time with the same device, and it needs less effort to have an Internet connection.

In ISDN terms, these devices that are used for working on both the physical and logical layers, are called simply NT or, from the NT1 and NT2, they can be called NT12 ("NT one-two") as well.

ISDN NT and Ozeki Phone System

Ozeki Phone System is a professional technology that uses ISDN standards. Ozeki Phone System provides you a PBX to serve the need of an NT in the system.

With Ozeki Phone System, you can build up communication systems that use ISDN to manage the multimedia calls – that will lead to high quality and 7/24 accessibility.
