How to become a VoIP service provider

Read the following step-by-step tutorial to know, how to make your own VoIP service provider. In this section, you will learn, how to install the Ozeki XE with a public IP address, then how to connect it to a SIP trunk service. How to create outbound and inbound dial rules and lastly, how to configure your softphone.

Step 1.) Install Ozeki XE on a Windows server with public IP address

First Install Ozeki XE, then set up port forwarding in you router settings. You have to send the port numbers used by Session Initiation Protocol, Real-time Transport Protocol and optionally the port number of the Graphical User Interface. With these ports, you are able to reach the Ozeki XE through the internet. The SIP uses the port 5060, the RTP uses a number from a 5000-10000 domain, by default. The port number of the GUI is 7777.

Step 2.) Connect Ozeki XE to a SIP trunk service

First, you have to connect to a SIP trunk service. To do it, in the 'Outside lines' tab under the Standard Extensions column click on 'Install' next to 'VoIP provider'. (Figure 1)

Select your Specific outside line, then make a new condition. You can redirect to your custom destionation, or it can be the extension specified by the dialed (or modified) number. (Figure 7)
