SIP Phone Types

SIP phones are used in a VoIP telephone system. There are more versions and types of them:

SIP SoftPhone-Software-based SIP Phone

A Software-based SIP phone is an application that uses the microphone and speakers of your computer, or a connected headset in order to make it possible to make and receive calls.

Hardware SIP phone

A Hardware-based SIP phone looks and works like a normal phone. However, it is connected directly to the data network instead of standard PSTN lines. These phones have an integrated mini hub, so they can share the network connection with the computer. It means that there is no need for an additional network point to the phone.

Use of analog phone through ATA adapter

Your current phone can also be used in the VoIP phone system with the help of an ATA adapter. An ATA adapter makes it possible to connect the Ethernet network jack and the telephone to the adapter. So, the old phone will appear in the VoIP phone system as a regular SIP phone.

Purchasing VoIP phones is not costly, and it can easily be procured in an online shop of VoIP products.
